One of the most successful teams of the 1990′s (and early 2000′s) was the semi-Italian/semi-Belgian Mapei team. The team first rose to prominence with the likes of Johan Musseuw, Tom Steels, Frank Vandenbroucke, Franco Ballerini, Andrea Tafi and Paolo Bettini, Mapei was always going to be popular.

But when the team went first, second and third the Paris-Roubaix classic in 1996, we knew Mapei was aa powerhouse that would remain remembered in cycling folklore forever. When they repeated the effort two years later in 1998, and then again in 1999 they were the kings of the classics.

The Australian Connection

For us Aussies we were particularly fond of the Mapei team. The first pro team of Michael Rogers and Cadel Evans, Mapei was also a chief sponsor of the Australian Institute of Sport Espoir (u/23) team.

The Socks

With all this history behind what simply must be known as the best one-day classics team of recent history, how could we say no to these quality socks, made in Italy.

They are in limited quantities (we took what we could!) and are unisize so should fit most.
